MacCauley Suffolks is based in Atglen, Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles east of Lancaster. We maintain a flock of approximately 60 Suffolk brood ewes.
The majority of the bloodlines trace back to the Lauden Acres flock we purchased in 1988 and George Brothers. The ewes are selected on structural soundness, mothering and milking ability, and longevity. The ewes are kept on pasture alone from April through November.
The 2007 lambs are sired by "Granite", MacCauley 1757, the 2006 Grand Champion Ram at NAILE; "Goldstreak", Donner Trail DTR 04-1503, the 2004 National Champion Ram we purchased at the Nugget All-American Sale in 2005; and "Indian Outlaw" Lost River 04-437, a ram we purchased privately from Donna Mays in 2004.
The 2007 lambs look great! They are very growthy and correct with lots of bone, muscle, style and breed character. For the best selection, please contact us early in the year!
We are enrolled in the National Voluntary Scrapie Flock Certification Program. All sheep are NN and DNA testing is available for Codon 136 and 171.
