Welcome
Yearling Suffolk Ewes

MacCauley Suffolks is based in Atglen, Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles east of Lancaster. We maintain a flock of approximately 75 Suffolk frame brood ewes and 20 production and wether type brood ewes. The ewes have been selected based on structural soundness, mothering and milking ability and longevity. All the ewes are kept on pasture alone from April through November - easy keeping is a must!

The frame sheep blood lines trace back to the Lauden Acres flock we purchased in 1988. In recent years we have added several select brood ewes from breeders including Bob Kimm, Double H (Al Harwood), 5 Star J, Drehers, Larry Orwick, and in 2007, we added a group of 17 ewes from the Erstrom reduction sale.

Suffolk Breed Character The 2009 lambs are sired by:

  • MacCauley 1955, the 2007 Grand Champion Ram at NAILE (shown here);
  • MacCauley 1917, a "Granite" son;
  • "HoWhi" Lost River 08-648, 1st place February Ram Lamb at 2008 NAILE;
  • Paasch 07-551, the 2008 Champion Ram at the Nugget All-American Sale;
  • MacCauley 2010, the 2008 Champion Slick Shorn Ram at NAILE; and
  • Kimm 3019-7012, sire of MacCauley 2010.

    The 2009 lambs look great! They are early this year and are growthy and correct with lots of bone, muscle, style and breed character. They have great toplines and big hips and can be shown either fitted or slicked!

    For the best selection, please contact us early in the year! We can arrange transportation to most of the major shows and sales.
